There’s plenty happening across East Yorkshire and just beyond over the August Bank Holiday, so if you’d rather plan your weekend around an event, here are some to pop on your list.

Kick off the Bank Holiday weekend with live music at The Hop Pole Hotel in Willerby.
The Roll The Dice Willerby Music Festival starts from 1pm on Saturday 29th August, with acoustic performances, DJs and community entertainment throughout the day.
A fun option if you fancy live music and a relaxed Bank Holiday atmosphere.

Heading away with the family?
The Bridlington CYP Fun Day takes place on Saturday 29th August from 12pm, with plenty planned to keep everyone entertained.
Expect inflatables, a rodeo bull, live entertainment and family activities throughout the event.
Combine it with a morning or evening on Bridlington beach and you’ve got a full seaside day out.

Saturday 29th August — Summer Saturday at Beverley Racecourse
For the grown-ups, Beverley Racecourse’s Bank Holiday Saturday fixture looks like a brilliant one.
Enjoy an afternoon of racing before Craig Charles takes over after the final race with his funk and soul DJ set.
You could even spend the morning exploring Beverley, stop for lunch and then head to the racecourse for the afternoon.

Sunday 30th August — Driffield Showground Farmer’s & Maker’s Market
If local produce and independent makers are more your thing, head to Driffield Showground on Sunday morning.
The Farmer’s & Maker’s Market brings together local food, drink, crafts and independent traders and starts from 10am.
It’s exactly the sort of event we love—especially when it means discovering another brilliant local producer!

Another one for the foodies!
Head towards the coast for Bridlington Food Festival, where you’ll find a fantastic selection of food and drink traders.
Once you’ve eaten your way around the festival, spend the rest of the afternoon exploring Bridlington, walking along the beach or heading a little further up the coast towards Flamborough.

Sunday 30th August — The Beverley Bullet
There’s another chance to enjoy a day at Beverley Racecourse on Sunday with the William Hill Beverley Bullet.
The five-furlong sprint is one of Beverley’s best-known races, and there’s also children’s entertainment planned in the Picnic Enclosure, making this one an option for families too.

Monday 31st August — Costello Car Show
Car enthusiasts might want to head towards Hull for the Costello Car Show on Bank Holiday Monday.
Starting from 9:30am at Costello Playing Fields, expect a static vehicle display alongside food stalls and family activities.
It’s an easy way to round off the long weekend before heading home.

Monday 31st August — Bank Holiday Organ Concert
For something completely different, finish the Bank Holiday with an evening at beautiful Beverley Minster.
The Bank Holiday Organ Concert starts at 6pm, featuring music from films, musicals, television and more.
Combine it with an afternoon exploring Beverley and dinner in town for a lovely final day of the long weekend.

All Weekend — Living History Weekend at Eden Camp
If you don’t mind travelling a little further, this could make a fantastic day trip.
Eden Camp Modern History Museum, near Malton, is holding its Living History Weekend across the Bank Holiday.
Expect immersive wartime re-enactments, military vehicle displays, 1940s music and living-history displays bringing the museum’s stories to life.
It’s outside East Yorkshire, but close enough to make a brilliant full-day adventure from Bumblebee Escapes.

Bee’s Tip: If you’re planning to visit a ticketed event over the Bank Holiday, we’d always recommend checking availability and booking ahead where possible.
Prefer to Avoid the Crowds?
You absolutely don’t need an organised event to enjoy the Bank Holiday.
Pack a picnic, pick a beach and spend the day exploring.
Some of our favourites include Hornsea, Fraisthorpe, Bridlington, Flamborough and Danes Dyke.
Or head inland for a countryside walk, visit one of our favourite local cafés, discover a farm shop or simply return to Bumblebee Escapes early and make the most of the hot tub.
Sometimes the best Bank Holiday plans are no plans at all.
