Whether you’re planning a summer holiday, a romantic weekend away or a dog-friendly escape, these are our favourite beaches within easy reach of Bumblebee Cottage, Pollen Pod and Nectar Pod.
1. Skipsea Beach
Approx. 5 minutes
As our nearest beach, Skipsea is a wonderful place to stretch your legs and enjoy the peaceful Yorkshire coastline.
Accessed via the path at Mr Moos, it’s a quiet beach where you’ll often find more dog walkers than crowds. It’s perfect for beachcombing, fossil hunting and simply enjoying the fresh sea air.

Bumblebee Tip: Visit early in the morning and you may have the whole beach almost to yourself.
2. Hornsea Beach
Approx. 15 minutes
Hornsea offers everything you’d expect from a traditional seaside town.
The long promenade, cafés, fish and chip shops, ice cream parlours, amusements and independent shops make it a fantastic day out for all ages.
After exploring the beach, enjoy a stroll around Hornsea’s charming town centre or visit Hornsea Mere.

3. Fraisthorpe Beach
Approx. 25 minutes
If you love wide open beaches, Fraisthorpe is hard to beat.
Its huge expanse of golden sand makes it ideal for long walks, beach games and letting the children (or dogs!) burn off some energy. You can even walk up to Bridlington South Beach if you’re up for getting some steps in!
Even during summer it rarely feels overcrowded.

4. Bridlington South Beach
Approx. 25 minutes
South Beach is one of Yorkshire’s classic seaside destinations.
Golden sands, amusements, cafés and plenty of places to grab an ice cream make this a classic favourite with families.
The beach is spacious and ideal for paddling during warmer months.
Perfect for:

- Young children

5. Bridlington North Beach
Approx. 30 minutes
Quieter than South Beach, North Beach is perfect if you’re looking for a more relaxed atmosphere.
The promenade is ideal for walking, cycling or simply sitting with a coffee while watching the sea.
Perfect for:
- Couples
- Peaceful walks
- Relaxing afternoons
Bumblebee Tip: Continue walking north and you’ll quickly leave the busiest areas behind.
6. Danes Dyke
Approx. 35 minutes
One of East Yorkshire’s hidden gems.
A woodland walk leads through the nature reserve before opening onto a beautiful secluded beach beneath towering white cliffs.
It feels completely different from many of the region’s other beaches, with quite a spectacular view of the rest of the East Yorkshire coastline.

- Coastal walks
Bumblebee Tip: Wear sturdy footwear as the woodland paths can become muddy after rain.
7. Flamborough North Landing
Approx. 35 minutes
This picturesque cove is surrounded by dramatic chalk cliffs and is one of our favourite places to explore.
It’s popular with kayakers, wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.
Keep an eye out for seals along the shoreline!

8. Thornwick Bay
Approx. 40 minutes
Thornwick Bay is famous for its spectacular scenery.
The cliffs, caves and crystal-clear water make it one of the most photogenic places on the Yorkshire coast.
It’s a fantastic place for walking and exploring.

Bumblebee Tip: Don’t forget your camera—this is one of the most photographed spots in East Yorkshire.
9. Bempton Cliffs
Approx. 40 minutes
While not a traditional beach, we couldn’t leave Bempton off the list.
The dramatic coastline is home to one of the UK’s most spectacular seabird colonies, with puffins, gannets, guillemots and razorbills visiting each year.
It’s an unforgettable experience.

10. Filey Beach
Approx. 45 minutes
A little further afield but absolutely worth the journey.
Filey’s sweeping bay is consistently voted one of Britain’s best beaches thanks to its golden sand, traditional seaside charm and relaxed atmosphere.
It’s perfect for spending an entire day by the sea.

Good to Know
Most beaches have pay-and-display parking nearby.
Tide times can change quickly, particularly around coves and cliff-backed beaches, so it’s always worth checking before you set off.
Many beaches welcome dogs all year round, while others have seasonal restrictions during the summer months. Check local signage before visiting.
The Yorkshire coast can be breezy, even on warm summer days, so packing an extra layer is always a good idea.
